About Me...
I am a reporter/photographer living in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. I fell in love
with photography in high school when I bought an old Nikon F camera body, two lenses and a light meter from a classmate. I took a lot of pictures for the yearbook both at Norfolk Academy and The University of the South. After graduation from college with a degree in fine arts, I was looking for a way to make a living as a photographer and took a job at the Virginian-Pilot as a lab technician in the photography department. Seeing little opportunity for advancement I returned to school, earning a master's degree in photojournalism from Ohio University. On returning home to Norfolk, I was intrigued by an employment ad in Editor and Publisher for a photographer at a weekly in Cody, Wyoming. Being someone who loves the Rocky Mountains, I applied and was hired. Thus began a 10 year adventure in the West, working for several newspapers, including the Cody Enterprise, Green River Star, Jackson Hole Guide, Jackson Hole News, Casper Star-Tribune and Greeley Tribune. In total, I spent about 25 years taking pictures for newspapers in Wyoming, Colorado and North Carolina. I worked 13 years for the The Herald-Sun in Durham, North Carolina. In 2006, I left the field of photojournalism and am now pursuing a new direction as a reporter. Currently I am employed by the Chatham News, based in Siler City, North Carolina. The idea for this website came about when I was going through old pictures from my 13 years at the Durham Herald-Sun and decided I wanted to display my favorite pictures from that time period, as well as a few from Jackson Hole.
I hope you enjoy your visit.
